BEACH PATROLS

Patrols are provided by rostering active members aged 13 and above into squads, attending the beach for day or weekend shifts depending on membership numbers.

Members aged over 30 with a current Bronze Medallion are welcome to join any rostered patrol.

Patrol roles vary by qualifications and may include first aid, rescue boat crewing, radio operations, and vehicle patrols. Patrols are essential for public safety and team spirit within the club.

Patrol season: Saturday 9 November 2025 – Monday 21 April 2026 (weekends and public holidays).

  • Sunday & Public Holidays: 10:00am – 5:00pm
• Peak Period (25 Dec – 23 Feb):
  • Saturday: 1:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Sunday & Public Holidays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

The primary role of the Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club is to ensure a safe beach environment for swimmers, surfers, and beachgoers across Waratah Bay. The Club has maintained a continuous patrolled presence since 1963. During summer months, especially weekends and public holidays, Sandy Point’s population swells. While generally safe, varied sea conditions can pose challenges for swimmers.

Patrolling members are issued shirt, shorts, and cap/hat upon completing their SRC or Bronze. Replacement items are available for a subsidised fee via the Merchandise Officer.

Rosters are emailed to patrolling members in early November. Updates occur in January to include new SRC and Bronze holders. Members unable to attend must arrange a substitute.

To find a substitute: provide plenty of notice, match required awards, contact potential subs directly, and notify the Patrol Captain once arranged.
