Dear Members,
Notice is given that a Special General Meeting of Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club Incorporated will be held on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 7.30 pm, online by Microsoft Teams.
The meeting has one item of business: to consider and, if thought fit, pass the following special resolution:
“That the existing Constitution of Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club Incorporated be repealed and replaced in its entirety by the replacement Constitution circulated with this notice, and that the Board be authorised to make any minor or consequential amendments required by Consumer Affairs Victoria to enable registration of the replacement Constitution.”
Attached to this are:
- Notice of Special General Meeting
- Agenda
- The replacement Constitution, being the document you are being asked to approve
Where this has come from
The first version was circulated on 19 June and the meeting planned for 12 July did not proceed so that the feedback received could be worked through properly. Items raised have been considered, and the outcome of each one is set out in the attached summary so that members can see what was said and how it was resolved. The Board is grateful to those who took the time to read the draft closely and put their views forward. The document now circulated is better for it. It has also been reviewed by the Club’s Honorary Legal Officer.
How to join
Please register using this form so that we can send you the joining link: WBSLC Special General Meeting August 2026 – Fill in form
The link will be emailed to registered members on Monday 24 August. Registering helps us plan the meeting. If you do not register, or do not receive the link, contact me at any time up to and including the night of the meeting and I will send it to you.
Who can vote
Under the Club’s current Constitution, which governs this meeting, Life Members and Individual Members over 15 years of age are entitled to vote. Life Members pay no subscription and are entitled to vote. You do not need to have renewed for the 2026-27 season in order to vote at this meeting. Community and Social members are welcome to attend and speak but are not entitled to vote.
The current Constitution does not permit proxy or postal voting, so you will need to take part in the meeting yourself for your vote to be counted. If anything is making that difficult, please get in touch and we will help.
Questions
Please send any questions to me by Friday 21 August. We would much rather work through them in advance than on the night. Please note that a special resolution must be voted on in the form set out in the notice, so amendments cannot be moved at the meeting.
Membership renewals for the 2026-27 season are now open and we encourage everyone to renew early, although renewal is not connected to your entitlement to vote at this meeting.
I hope to see as many of you as possible on 27 August.
Kind regards
Fred Cosme
