Nominations are open for the WBSLSC Board -Season 2026-27
Dear members,
Nominations are now open for election to the Board of Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club Season 2026-27 at our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 29 November 2026. The meeting will be held online and the start time will be confirmed in the notice of meeting.
This is the first Annual General Meeting held under the Constitution members adopted in August, which has now been approved by Consumer Affairs Victoria. Under the new rules all Board positions are declared vacant at this meeting and elections are held for all of them. Eight Director positions will be filled.
Members elect Directors. The Board then appoints the President, the Secretary and the Vice President from among the Directors elected, and allocates the remaining portfolios according to the skills available. Nominating does not commit you to a particular portfolio, and you will be asked what interests you.
To nominate for the Board you must be an Individual Member of the Club, a financial member, aged 18 or over, and resident in Australia. Your nomination must be supported by two members who are also financial members, and accompanied by your written consent. Both are provided on the nomination form.
Financial member means your membership for the 2026-27 season has been paid. Life Members are financial members and pay no subscription. If you have not yet renewed for this season, you will need to do so before lodging a nomination or supporting someone else’s. Renewals are open now through Surf Guard and we encourage every member to renew early.
Attached are the Director position description, which sets out what the role involves and what is expected of Directors, the Director Code of Conduct, and the nomination form in both PDF and Word.
Complete the form, including a candidate statement of 200 words or less, and email it to secretary@waratahbeach.com.au, copying in your two nominators so they can confirm their support. A typed name is accepted as a signature.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 30 October 2026.
The notice of the Annual General Meeting, with the agenda and all nominations received including candidate statements, will be sent to members on Sunday 8 November. This email is advance advice of the date and is not the formal notice of meeting.
If a Board position is not the right fit at the moment, there are many other ways to contribute to the club this season. The Club runs committees covering lifesaving, training, membership, facilities, fundraising, partnerships and communications, and those roles matter just as much. Speak to any Director and we will point you in the right direction. We would really love to have your help.
